Hey just wondering how hard it is to change the cvs in a 1991 swb mitsi 3L V6 model, as the one on the right hand side looking at the vehicle i can move with my hand and rattles all the time and the other side looks like it is starting to go also. Any help would be good,
Cheers
Also whats the cheapist option second hand or new?

Shouldn't be too difficult, from memory they have abs which needs to go back correctly and with no grease on the sensor or you will get abs error codes. I would go new and go for quality, not cheap chink crap. I learnt this the hard way

Go to the local library and get a manual out for it or better still go buy one.

Something new like this seems pretty cheap...
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 923248.htm
I've gotta do my terrano CV's and am thinking about buying these $50 ones and doing the job myself. I've been quoted $150+ at Ripco per CV, and up to $275 per CV plus fitting at the Mechs...
I guess the question is - Is it 700-800% better/more-reliable to get 'Good CV's' fitted for you. or take a punt the the unknown $50 jobs....

They will break first time out, they did on me. Pay the bucks, go quality and have piece of mind, otherwise you will become an expert at changing CV's blindfolded, like me.

Pay the money cos like al Says you'll be back chaging then again.
i spent about $400 on mine 4 years ago and still going strong, my truck has been betting up big time to the point now that i'm about to retier the truck and buy another.
it is a lot of money but you'll save in the long run, as long as you do the maintaining of the truck too

i think alot of it is down to the driver. i know one guy that was going thru almost one every time he took his jtop out, but mine has the same things done to it and ive only destroyed one. replaced quite a few boots but only 1 whole cv. put a s/h one in and its cranking as goos as new.
as for details on changing them, ask mytronic if he still has the pm i sent him. it was a novel so im not going to write it again unless i really have to.
also, here is a link about inner cvs....

Hi there
Yep I was the one braking the CV's every outing !
Found the problem ...
When replacing the RH one Please check the inner bearing, mine had collapsed causing undue stress. Apparently not available as a spare but there is a guy in tauranga manufacturing them. I can get the info if required.
As for CV, peanuts , easy as ,just require big hammer
Do not use pre-loved and the ones I obtained from WAKO are working a treat . No breakages since fitting the new bearings. Genuine Mits CV's over $800 as quoted from Mits dealer.
Cheers Mike
