saturday i insta-blinged the under side of my bonnet and tied my high lift and tow straps to the cage....

worked on my truck n saturday for a little bit
rebuilt my winch now she goes mint got oil all over the floor too
got some steel bends for my new bars all for free
started chatting to engineer about making my truck into a cab and a half ute
sounds like its gonna get done over the next few months by me myself an I its funny my trucks never been to a mechanics in the time i have owned it

allso rung around for apprenticeships no luck yet i got told i dont have a job last week because my boss can afford to pay me[/u]

I got the gearbox out of the Surf ready to replace the clutch, pressure plate, release bearing and spiggot bearing.

Anyone in Welly have a spiggot bearing removal tool?

Release bearing and spiggot bearing are shagged. Clutch isn't too bad but the pressure plate is badly blued. Flywheel will a bit of a clean up as well. Need to step up in pressure plate strength I think.

Also split the gearbox ready to install a Marlin Crawler mainshaft thrust washer to stop the jumping out of first gear problem in my R15x trans.

i have some 3 port blocks that will sort out your breaks if i understand what you said right it will do what u want

last night i managed to put an auto locker in the rear of rusty and an lsd in the front...

trimmed some excess fat from the top too..

oh yeah, and i also noticed that after a while driving around, that rusty could do with a wide axle conversion!!!





upon closer inspection found that the bearing had collapsed and pretty much so had the rest of the hub!!

before any comments are fired, i hadnt even disasembled that part as theyre full floaters..

with many thanks to h20 for rebuildin the rear hub and supplyin the new bearings, and goose for sittin on the wheel to stop it blowing away.. (just kiddin) goose was very helpful in the resplining of hub.. and thanks to nick for many tools..

Finally finished off wiring in a UHF radio - started out as easy job - BUT -ended up having to re-wire half the accessories as well
Found carpet under drivers side floor mat sodden (wondered why the truck stuck of wet carpet).

Traced problem back to dodgy wires running in through drivers door & water tracking down the cables onto the carpet. Re-routed the cabling, re-wired the turbo timer (bloody thing still falls off the dash panel - nothing wants to stick - so have got some screws to do the job) Now problem solved. All done in between the occassional West Coast "sunshine" (sic - rain)

Got a trip to the tip done to dispose of the fire ashes/coals (can't throw them on the garden - veges don't like the sulpher from the coal ) and all the other general crap that one accumulates in garges, under beds etc.

Now I have a happy wife with a much faster computer - -and 2 sets of ears on the truck

Saturday morning worked. Then went and picked up the disco from the engineers. That was cool untill the wheels started shaking violently again so had to organise a trailer to come and get it then by the time we got it back to tu's place it was dark (what a waste of a day ) Then this morning when I was driving to turoa's house The front tyre blew out on my mum's bmw the road was damp and I started fish tailing at 100k's If i hadn't of corrected it (according to turoa, who was driving behind me) i would have totaled the whole side of the car. i only ended up clipping the drivers side rear bumper and just behind the filler. we don't know how it happened or really what happened then after that little drama we had a look at the disco front brakes (just need x2 2 into 1 splitters and then we can finish them

did not much yesterday or this morning. Sold my surf last night tho (deal to be completed next weekend) Sold it to the young plumber chap who did the work on my bathroom. I came back from putting $90 in the tank (only did about 300kms on that) and asked the first guy I saw (plumber) if he wanted to buy a truck, unfortunately I probably told him too cheap a price but its still a bit more than I paid for it - that was a few weeks ago and the deal was confirmed last night.

Went back to the rental place to finish some more off on the bathroom this afternoon, before lunch I took the truck down to the shed to load up gear, got side tracked on the way and ended up down at the river and now truck is muddy all over, was great 2wd fun with just me and the dog. I normally blat round in 2wd when by my self for two reasons, can't be bothered getting out to do the hubs (normally just slip down to the river for 10 mins) and also if I get stuck I have 4wd up my sleave as I needed today, after flicking mud all up the side of the vehicle I decided I had to get out and engage the hubs.

Also closing in on a cruiser to replace the surf.

Extended the diff breather hoses front and rear. Now just got to get my rear towhook sorted before Al's training day next weekend.

Did a rescue on saturday evening down Amberley beach near the mouth of the Waipara, I will let him own up himself. Gave the winch a good workout that evening and still going strong. Moved the prs aerial from the front of the truck up to the roof rack for better reception and more range. Nissan safari roofs are double skinned as I learnt with the drill Bolted the radios down more permanently on the dash and changed a few blown bulbs.
