Kiwi downunder Updated..New Fairlead design...!
Hi to all..
First of all I'm a kiwi...been in Aussie for a while and continued to be involved with 4wdriving ever since I left NZ.
For 5 years, I've been associated with Australia's well known competitors, Birdyy (Adam Bird), Shrek (Andrew Cassar) and GQHoon Peter Mailouf).
I was Birdyy's co-driver for most of that time and had lots of top finishes.
During those years, I had always custom built their trucks for them, which gave me the idea to design the Twin Motor Winch setup and also the Free Spool, which is now available to the public.
I've semi-retired from racing and have now started my future retirement plan. A fabrication business, not only on 4wd's, but for boats etc....
but, mainly concentrating on the 2 designs...twin motor and free spool...
I have a Nissan Patrol GQ with a 4.2 modified diesel, with my own custom built stainless steel extractor manifold, Garrett rollerbearing turbo and intercooler, adjustable external wastegate, ceramic button clutch, modified cooling system.
I have a set of fox shocks and bump stops and Koni shocks(in the garage waiting to be fitted), a modified and strengthened front diff housing and custom front bar.

Did you do the rear trailing arms on Hoon's truck? Looking at it at OBC 2006, they look pretty similar?
Mine are 50x25 RHS which are plenty strong enough, but those ones of yours and Hoons seem to be bigger section again?
Cheers
Mitch
ps - whats the word on Benny Russells rig after Alpine?
Yes I did make Hoon's trailing arms, also, yes they are a larger section material and I'm making the eyes larger than standard aswell, but still fit original nissan bushes.
Benny's truck took a pretty big hit in the cage area above the drivers head. Probably some serious cage repairs needed.
The portal diffs seemed to of worked pretty good up to that stage. I think they've got the bugs ironed out.

Geez, not likely to bend or break in any hurry then...you reckon they're "Hoon-proof"?
Are you going to put some fancy synthetic winch rope on that truck of yours? Looks like wire in the pics?

Actually, these are a little bit better than the ones I made for Hoon. Hoon has the standard bush eyelets.
I'll be putting on Amsteel Blue rope one day soon. Yes it is wire for now.

Is this because of the way the eyelets tear out? I've seen Sandy B put a bodgy looking strap from the arm, around the eye and back to the other side of the arm...but haven't seen anyone over here experience the same problem.

I make the eyelets thicker for strength. No need to add straps etc, if you make them correctly.

$240 without bushes, or $360 with bushes, powder coated and made to whatever length you want. Can freight if need be.

Ok, so I take it you've machined them done from thicker sectioned material?
Am interested in a price on a pair of sliders for SWB with 1" body lift if possible?
Cheers
Mitch
Yes, it is from thicker sectioned material for the trailing arms.
PM'd you price for sliders.

you should make one that feeds the wire onto the drum evenly like a fishing reel cause its a real pain in the butt when all the wire bunches on top of each other pulling on an angle
