While I had my engine out I decided it was a good time to remount the alternator because to fix it in the bush was a hell of a job as the radiator had to be removed

First thing I did was mount a Hilux powersteer pump where the air con had been on the Supra.
Basically made a bracket attached to engine mount and front mounting points.

Make a couple of tabs to bolt the powersteering pump to mount, align in relation to crank pulley (I used the front v groove that the aircon had used), then weld in place. made an adjuster mount off the bracket and you're done

So with the powersteer out of the way I could then move the alternator.
I Simply reshaped the old Supra powersteer bracket so it had a flat surface (the one that bolts to the head), welded a piece of 5mm plate to it (Its cast steel not cast iron so you can weld to it), I could then make a bracket up off the plate to hold the alternator (just a piece of C section did the job).
I decided to run the alternator off the pulley already on the water pump, and run the water pump through an idler (pics further on)
The alternator belts are doubled and smalle "V section" than the waterpump drive so figured it would work

Aligned the alternator with waterpump pulley and wlded bracket in place on plate.

Made up an adjuster using the old Supra adjuster and one off some other ald alternator and that was finished

Last job was to make a Idler and tensioner for the water pump belt, got one from a 2LT diesel (aircon adjuster/idler) and cut the bracket down, mounted it on the old Supra alternator bracket and now had a tensioner/idler

Put the engine back into the truck and found I had to alter the bottom hose on the radiator, took the radiator in and got a 90degree bend put in, bent up a piece of number 8 wire the shape of the bottom radiator hose I needed and went in and got one (misti pajero 2.5 diesel)
