I am needing a shackel for when I use a snatch strap and was wanting to know will the 3.2 tonne one enough or will I need the 4.7 tonne one?
Thanks
Shackels??
where abouts are you gonna be attaching the shackle onto? if it is into the towball hole, i have found normally only the 3.25t ones fit
what type of truck have you got?
Many people prefer not to use a shackle with a snatch strap as if it fails it will create a missile with the broken shackle... as opposed to a hook which should just bend if it is overloaded...

Whatever size/strength snatch strap you use make sure your shackles are rated past their load with some degree of safety. No point putting a 3 ton shackle on the end of a 5 ton snatch cause thats just asking for trouble. If you are using a shackle i take it you don't have any hooks on your truck? If this is the case then whatever you do, don't let Jerry know about this

***Got the balls, just ain't got the bucks***
I have a Best bars tow bar on my truck and it has the titan hitch which is removable and you can fit other attachments. Best bars also sell attachments for them. So I brought the attachment they call the snatch hook. Basicly it fit into the titan hitch and it is made up to fit a shackle not supplied so you can fit a snatch strap to.
So am looking for a shackle to fit.
I have a 8000kg snatch strap.
Thanks

Ok... i don't know if it commerically produced or not but i have an attachment for mine that has a towhook mounted onto the rectangular tube that slots into the hitch
depending on the holes that you have in your hitch they may be able to easily fit a hook to the removeable part? otherwise a number of towbars have them mounted to the verticle supports on the side of the bar? and some even have the holes pre-drilled...
I would personally say use the biggest shackle where you can fit the pin through the hole (upto a reasonable size say 5t) in reality its only a couple of dollars difference for that extra piece of mind... if you do get well and truley stuck get someone to winch you out rather than using a lot of force on the strap....
Are you part of a club? if so check what their policey on towhooks/shackles etc is... as they are the ones who risk injury if it breaks...
Cheers
