i have an oil leak in my surf that seems to be a seal on on one of the cams. was going to leave it till it got a bit worse but i think its dripping down into my clutch as it started slipping before and the clutch is only 4 months old (drips down the side of the engine and to the back).

my question is how hard would this be to fix.toyota ilam said it would be about $800 and they would do the cam belt water pump and all seals and tensioners. im resonable mechanically minded but not sure if im quite up to the job and if i am it looks like alot of work that i really cant be bothered stuffing round with if there is a chance im going to get it wrong.

Cheers Pete

most likely to be the half moon seal on the end of the head or rocker cover gasket at a guess, cheap as chips to buy, easy to do.....ish. just have to get all the junk out of the way so you can see what your doing in there and then you will be away.

double check it tho, pull all the stuff away from the top of the engine that is in the way,get a good torch and little mirror that you can fit down the back and trace the leak.
