PUREORA FOREST

Post by skid »

Hello to everyone, I'm currently President of the Taupo 4wd Club and seeing as how Pureora is so close we tend to use it whenever we have nowhere else to go.
I was just curious to know where everyone else drives when they go to Pureora. Do you drive in the area we know as 40 Acre, which is off to the left of Bog Inn Road or do you drive in other areas like the northern side by Barryville, or do you use what we know as the North Block which is on the northern side of the Bennydale Road.

The reason I ask, is coz we wanna try and get DOC to allow us to take a buldozer in and clean up some of the tracks which we have found to be almost impassible due to what seems like over use. They have allowed us to create the tracks in the North Block, so hopefully they will allow us to clean up other areas.

Any ideas/input you have would be welcomed.

Cheers

what club are you in, coz we were looking at doing the same thing. I think we have been in touch with DOC about the area and the possibilty of putting a campsite and toilet etc in there.

yeah, I'm a dumbass. I looked at your profile after I posted.

yes Wopass that is the Ngaroma block. It would be preferable if everyone would use that more so the other areas are not so thrashed.

currently discussing it at club meetings. need to get in touch with DOC and get permission.

We have a guy with a digger who will donate his time if we pay for the gas. So we are gonna check with DOC and get the ok, then get someone to pay for the gas(NZFWDA), and we're all go.
