Hi all, I really just joined this forum to reply to a comment made by Johnno over a new vehicle I purchased - amazing what comes up in Google!

So I'm not really into 4WD'ing these days (although I own a Prado, Suzi & Honda) but thought a few might be interested in my history from when I usec to live in Blenheim...

I've owned 36 Landrovers in my time, done the usual motor conversions, made hard-tops when they cost a fortune, made soft-tops when I needed spotlighting machines, broken gearboxes, axles and most other breakable things in a Landy :-) Also managed to put a soft-top on its roof once, wasn't flash :-{

Then I progressed to 'Cruisers and really can't recall how many of those I've, but not as many as the 'Rovers. Mostly SWB HT's with the odd LWB f/deck. I used to get older machines and fit later diesel motors and paint them in the 'modern' colours of the day. It was a good way to look like one could afford a new vehicle and kept me off the streets for a while!

In between I worked on or owned various other miscellania including LJ50's , 80's & SJ's. Somewhere if got heaps of photos from way back then but won't bore anyone with them (prob wouldn't want some people seeing them either - given some of the things we used to do! :shock:

Anyway that's just the 4WD's, I'll drop in occasionally to see what this site is about & mebbe put in my oar from time to time.

Cheers, Luke.

Hah, dunno about these Nissans, methinks they break gearboxes and rust a bit more than the roughly equivalent Toyota (fighting talk I'm aware :-)...

Also the new Patrol is slow and sounds a lot more like a tractor than I'd like, altogether I think the present Prado I have will take some beating!

Cheers, Luke.

Yeah, I wuz thinking more of Terrano under-seat issues 'n all that. The Patrols were never too bad, pity the new ones didn't go a bit better though! :wink:

Cheers, Luke.
