Calmini 3" Suspension lift

Looking at fitting a 3" 1987-95 Pathfinder WD21 Calmini lift to my Swb Nissan Mistral.

Firstly i'm wondering whether any one has had any experience with Calmini generally (whether fitted to Suzuki, Isuzu or a Nissan) and secondly whether you this will fit my Mistral with out to many issues. At a glance I can not see why not, but i'm sure someone else will know better than I do. Also if you think there is a better option than this to lift my truck let me know. Thanks for any help.

as far as i know the mistral and the terrano run the same chassis and suspention so it should be ok??

If you check the chassis number on the ID plate under the bonnet/on fire wall and it starts WD21 you should be sweet. pretty sure they are the same. navaras and Terrano/pathfinders are.

Let us now if you get one and how t goes. ive looked and wondered often. the terrano is a bit low.

Not sure whether to go this way at $943 NZD + shipping; or whether to stick to the more conventional forms of lifting, such as the slightly smaller 2" lifts available locally.

Would appreciate any advice or suggestions from anyone who has lifted a Nissan Terrano. Thanks for the help.

What is shipping worth?
I'd go for the Calmini kit if shipping is reasonable. It may only be slightly higher than a NZ sourced 2", but with the extra the calmini comes with, you should get a superior ride on and off road I would have thought.

I got a lockright rear lokka from The dealer guy down south for my suzuki when I had it and it was only about $400 or so delivered to my door. Thats very cheap!! Heres the guys email. Give him a email asking the price on what you want.

If it utilised coil springs i would seriously consider it; but unfortunately it uses leaf springs. It would seem a little strange to me, having coils at the back and leaves at the front

Not at all, leafs are easy to set up and get to work. Doing a coil conversion requires so much more work and easier to muck up.

Don't knock leaf springs man, specially in the front

Oe fella that was on here a while back did a coil conversion all round on his truck only to rip the front out and put leaves back in.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not knocking leaves in any way, I just don't think leaves in the front would be the best layout for my truck.

If i was building something like Calmini's Navara, which already has leaves in the back, I would not hesitate doing a SAS with leaves.

Hi everybody, I have just had the 3 inch calmini lift kit fitted to my Teerano II , here in Ireland and also have a 3inch body lift fitted. The only problem I have now is that the wheels at the top, face in towards the engine and the company who fitted it for me is not any help. with that camber on the front you should corner well , think the top arms need to be spaced out to move the wheels vertical again

Ive fitted the 3" kit to my Terrano.

If you are going to get it certified, check with them to see if they need the UCA's crack tested. If yes, then get that done [u]before[/u] you put them on the car. You will have to sand blast them and get all the paint off to expose the welds. I just resprayed mine with an aerosol enamel.

The ride is very good, The front Torsion bars took a long time to bed in, and I had to re-index them after about 3mths to keep the ride hieght level. The UCA's could do with being longer to correct the camber issue, otherwise look at spacing the spindle off the chassis. I rotate my tyres regularly and the wear isn't too bad.

What?? No you don't. You can have non-destructive crack testing done which uses both x-rays and magnetic something-a-rather ( I just remember the magnetic part and not the detailed scientific part ) to determine if they are cracked and you get your parts back exactly how you handed them in, no sandblasting or anything. I did all three control arms for my escudo calmini lift kit just a few months ago.
