Battery not fully charging

Hi Guys,

I have an 89 SWB Saf that I replaced both batteries in less than a year ago.

I've got a 12V winch which I've only used once, stereo and a 12V ciggy plug for GPS, Cell ph connected directly off the 12V side of the Battery.

What I've noticed is that the Ciggy plug has a red LED that flashes to indicate that battery is low. It's been flashing for months now, I popped the barrty out and charged it over night before Easter which stopped the flashing, but it started again after about a week.

After the long weekend, I was away and didn't drive the truck, I came back to find there was only just enough juice to start the motor.

Doesn't any one know why the battery isn't getting fully charged while I'm driving and what could be draining it. Nothing is left on at night. Or could it be a stuffed battery.

Cheers

Go to an auto sparky and get an electrical test done, dosnt cost much if anything,

It could be altanior, starter soliniod, winch or anything else

Unless you are running some sort of equaliser system, you will run into problems running a 12v winch.

The 12v battery will not charge properly if you run directly off it without someway to equalise the charge, which will then drain the second battery.
I'd go to an auto sparky and get it looked at, and set up properly.

Thanks Guys,

I've had the Winch off for the last 4 months as it didn't seem to be working properly. I think now it was probably because of a lack of charge in the battery.

I guess I'll have to book it in to an auto sparky and see what they say.
