cruiser tie rod ends
cruiser tie rod ends
Anybody out there know what diameter the tie rod ends are off landcriusers i was told 80series ones measure 23mm but the replacement one i have measures 20.8mm even double checked with toyota and they said the part was for an 80. My truck currently has tie rod ends that measure 23mm and im wanting the mount up a steering damper but the position of the mounting hole for the damper is on the back of the rod end (70 series?) and i need it on the top. Just trying to find out what model criuser the tie rod is from. Just hoping over the weekend someone may be under their cruiser with some calipers and couuld take a few measurements
80 series tierod ends are definitely 23mm thread, but the relay rod ends (from steering to knuckle) may be smaller. Heres a couple of pics of an 80 series setup
By the looks of this pic, the tie rod ends (circled) are bigger threads than the relay rod ends (#'s 25 & 26)

thanks for that jafa that clarifies a few things for me. need to get my terminology of parts correct. The relay rod end i have on the truck now measures 23mm and the tab for the damper is on the back end of the rod (90 degrees from ball joint) would like to use it as is but i think there will be too much binding and the damper may foul the relay rod. You wouldnt know what model cruiser had a 23mm diameter on the relay rod ends? At least this will identify what model the relay rod come from.
I guess thats one of the fun bits of having a truck someone else started and you're trying to finish
May need to find me the correct relay rod (80 series) any one got one lying around?
