I have found cd players are sh!t offroad, every bump seems to scratch the disc.........and then try drowning your truck.......not fun.
I have found what I think is a good solution, the stock crummy as radio, a portable mp3 player, cigarette socket plugin FM modulator.
If you drown it, just pull out the FM modulator and make sure the mp3 player is up high...........and best of all it never skips, no matter how bad the bumps are
All that can go wrong is your stock crummy radio gets shagged when drowned.....boo hoo you were gunna replace it anyway
sorry for the thread jack.

Think I met you down at 4wd accessories. personally I won't be doing anything hardcore until my birthday trip on the Westcoast in mid July, about 5 weeks away. I have some work to get done to the truck before then. I would be interested in a short day trip up Worsleys or something like that.

What kinda problems have u had?
IM currently getting mine sorted after an incident which ended up in cracked head, cracked pistons. Hardest part at the moment is finding a head at a decent price.. Ive been lucky though the block is sweeeet.

Brot the vx with 86k on the clock from 4x4 car sales in Waltham, looked in good order, but didnt get a leak down etc, had a mech look at it thou. Did the usual look at a 100 and drove 10.
90k - blown smoke / burning oil took the head off - worn valves / valves guides so recon the head, injectors and turb.
94k - Just fin No Name Rd / cockeye creek cruisn back to Grey when BANG and loss of power - SNAPPED CRANKSHAFT!!!! Which had a pre-existing fracture in it. So got a new 96 short block thankfully at wholesale for 4g.
103k - Snapped / Flex plate!!! - not sure if its called that or a flitch plate - but it attaches to the AT / Short block. - also got the Torgue convertor reconed as well as what the fuk had done everything else.
109k - rear diff bearings fuked so replaced those.
all I can say is thank fuk for the Protectra insurance - those guys have been fantastic - anybody thinkn of gettn a 4x4 must have one.
Anywho me mates keep telln me to buy a nissan, not sure why thou???
Good luck with fixn ya rig - soundz bloody expensive!

dam, thats a lot of bad luck!
My trucks getting closer to going again, I've been quoted some scary prices for heads, ive $885+gst for a new bare head. New rings, pistons, bearings going in will get the injectors and shit done then hopefully it will go for a while trouble free!

Thatz wot the caryard threw in as part of the deal. They usually cost a grand for 3 years. HOWEVER as the truck was older than 12 years the max payout is only 1750 and u have to pay the first 250. I wasnt told that by the yard and woda brot a newer truck as I have the bux. Am yet to sue the arse off the yard.....
