my ex flatmate had a commodore that was supercharged and he injected LPG directly into the intake manifold as a liquid which cooled his intake temperature tremendously.

was wondering if a similar thing would work with diesel what say you guys is my idea totally outlandish

lpg

Do a quick search on Google, there is quite a bit of info on LPG/CNG injected Diesel engines. As coxsy said, it increases the power significantly and boost fuel economy to some pretty amazing levels if not using the increased power. The trick is getting the mixture just right, too much and it will destroy the engine.
Our local power supply company had Bedford diesel trucks in the early 80's running on a CNG / Diesel mixture.

This is common on diesels, but I've never seen LPG fumigation on a petrol. You'd want to make sure ignition timing was spot on, a backfire through the intake would be rather.. impressive.

If you google "diesel fumigation" you will get lots of hits. There are numerous commercial kits in the states straight off the shelf. But I'm sure with some kiwi know how a system could be developed with local parts. LPG fumigation is only really effective with turbo charged diesels.

It is an intertesting idea and the theory is sound. Has anyone on here ever run this on their truck. Is it as good as people say?

Did you piece your fumigation kit from bits here in NZ or did you buy a comerically available kit? How much did it cost to do?

i used

i used a regulater that on my L300 van it was suitable for 1000cc - 2000cc i screwed the power valve rite in and very very slowly opened it up untill i could not see any more dark diesel smoke out the back of my Mistral i put a micro switch on the throtal stop on the injector pump so that it would shut off the lpg at an idle and would turn on again when you had your foot down about 25 mm by then you had a few revs on and it felt as though a high powered cam had turned on such is the gain in power

all grades from gravel road exploring to sand all the paint off and new panels when you get home!!

Seriously, it IS all grades, you choose how tough you wanta make it.
Pureora is a large area, we havent yet explored it all. We are going to have enuff vehicles to have two groups, one playing in the muddy stuff, and one group exploring and looking around.

as regards the Menstrual, That is no matter, you DID the fumigation, and remember how and what you did that's all that matters.

Hope to see you before Labour weekend anyway, to talk about the LPG.
