had an issue with the bonnet opening and smashing back down. So I over-engineered some bonnet pins.

and I got these working again

which lead to this

a great end to my work on the truck. felt great to be able to do skids again.

well got a few things done this weekend, moved a shit load of furniture from one garage to another butthe second one is drier so it won't rot or get mold, also got some things done to the truck motor is out and a new one on the way thanks to dan(nzhunter)hope to pick it up next weekend if all goes to plan, also managed to make some new powersteer pump brackets thanks to the design of hosehustler(tim) just have to line up and weld on the tabs to bolt the unit on to it, then maybe look at moving the alternator up high,( the motor that the brackets on on is my old one which will get some slow work on it later to get i going once i pull it down,

Went for a 60km trail bike ride up the selwyn river on sat and all I can say is amazing - someone remind me why I do 4wding again :?: I havnt fallen off yet so that may be the reason I'm thinking the 2wheeling is way more fun

Trained two guys down the waimak today in a couple of surfs, very slippery down there in AT's and one didnt realise the wheels were turned in the ruts and I had no radio to warn them and the enevitable happend, the ruts run out, the track went straight, they went left and bopped a small tree, took them by surprise thats for sure  Its a pity they learnt the hard way though

"Aquired" two new lag/lead flouros for the shed, sick of working on Richies Strangerover in the half dark.

Fitted extra power point behind desk. When I wired the new shed, I thought, Yeah, one there, there there and there there there will do it. Talk about a bloody optimist!! Moved the one THERE, to over THERE cos it's too damnd easy to leave the welder one and suck power even when NOT welding. (Thanks, Richie)

Tomorrow, I will fit the flouros, was too lazy today, spent afternoon watching trekkie stuff.

Spent evenings during the week putting my Big horn motor together at last ....
Spent all day Saturday putting the motor back into the truck (with help from a friend, thanks Allan)
Spent Sunday afternoon trying to work out why it won't start.
There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

They wernt really fall offs, more like run out of momentum and flop over, not fly off at speed as such like i nearly did on the river bed (and that would have hurt!!) :instagib:

Spent the afternoon with Hosehusler and liethfield doing the Ashey track and headed up the Okuku. Found some other forum members and they followed us up, some tows required, poor MU  . Found penty of deep fast flowing river crossings :D . Could be a good Assocation trip for spring see if we can get through to Lees valley, do some rockhopping  .

Spent Sunday morning sorting out and putting away the recovery gear from queens birthday weekend (slack I know). Then removed my pintal hook, attached my rear seatbelts, got my spotties working again and sat down for lunch when I got a text to say that there was a traffic jam down the Ashley track.

Jumped in the truck and went into the track to try catch up with friends and their friends (MU & Suzuki). Part way along came face to face with four trucks and they had a fairly std surf at the front which couldn't get any further, so I hooked him up and reversed back - hard getting out of them ruts so had to keep dragging him till I could get out and him and three others headed out to the river.

Proceeded and caught up with friends. Followed the river up but got to a place the zuki couldn't cross due to currant - he found a way around.

Arrived at the Okuku and zuki went home, met up with hosehustler (got it right!) albundy and leithfield (nice to met you guys in the flesh and your trucks in the tin.) Went up the Okuku till the sun was getting low and the river bed rougher - and the MU got stuck on a big rock!

Headed back down and part way had to remove some damaged parts off the MU (Thanks guys for waiting up), got back to road bridge and all headed different ways. My brother (passenger) then realised he'd lost his phone so I ended up heading back up river and found it at the spot we removed the MU parts - was a 1 hour round trip at a tad faster pace than earlier as path was worn, was thankful I'd fixed the spotties in the morning as was dark on return. Got home about 6:15 and have been doing tax forms tonight :(

How far up the gorge did you guys get?
The gorge is about 10km (from memory) and you can drive about 3km in from road end before you hit a wall of boulders and rocks about 20 feet high. Did you make it to there?

spent all week changing the motor and clutch in my vitara and finally got it fired up on saturday night to find out the oil filter was the wrong one so it pumped 3 1/2 litres of oil on my carport floor and up the side of the house. Got to club champs on sunday with a very rough running truck. backing truck off the trailer the oil filter stuffed up again so once again oil went every where. So it was a mad dash back to town to grab the oil filter off my old engine to see if it would work which thankfully it did so the trip was not wasted. Caught up to the others and did the hazards that i had missed whilst i was in town. my truck was not running right all day so happy with the way i went on only its second outing and being nowhere near finished. While im still learning the capabilities of my truck so far im impressed how far a standard vitara can go. Just a pity it wont be running good enough for the T.R this weekend.
