whats this part?

what is the part the line points to and should they all be the same height ?

Lifters. They follow the cam lobes that run under them. If the high part of the lobe is up the lifter will be raised. To answer your question, They will be different hights.

I'm not familiar with this engine but i'm guessing its a cam follower. Individually, yes they are all the same height, but in the engine they will depend on the position of the engine as to where the cams on the camshaft push the follower up. You will probably find a type of roller on the bottom of the follower which will roll on the cam. The bottom of the pushrod will sit inside the follower. Hope this answers your question. :wink: 8)

Looks like a small block Chev,boys above seam to have it sorted.
