Argh I hate my 413 starter too :) The starter is a common short mitsubishi one, any of the local auto electricians should have parts in stock. what is it doing? It may need only minor repairs

Mine died because I didn't have a cover on the bottom of my gearbox and mud was getting in there (argh, which I didnt realise until I pulled the motor out).

Wreckers should be able to get you one as well, if you take it with you you will probably find its the same as several vehicles. however you may end up with another buggered one

Check the wreckers for Barina starters, they should be identical. Alternators too, much cheaper than buying a 'Suzuki' one.

Whoops. Sorry didn't mean to mislead. I got a barina starter and it fits my wagon, but I dont have a standard engine (doh), Didn't think hard enough.

Found this on another forun (outerlimits) and thought it may be some help.

The starter in the I-Zook, ´86 413w, gave up on me, and a reserve was nowhere to be found within the time limits I had to fix it.
I did some scrounging among the shelves at my used-parts dealer and found a starter from a Mitsubishi Colt ´89 that looked, and was, exactly the same, apart from the "nose". I swithed them in about fifteen minutes and there I was, with a "new" starter.
The parts man told me that the Colt and the Lancer are basically the same cars, just different bodies, so starters from that generation of both can donate sterters for the SJ.
I don´t know if the 410 has the same starter as the 413; somebody please add info on that.
