Hilux repower

Post by philux »

Right iv decided by the end of this year i want a new donk under the bonnet, wot ive got is a ln106 pushing 33's with 4.3s diffs and a g52 box. Want ideas/opinions on which motor to throw in the hole, prices on what it would roughly cost, hopefully be doing most of the work myself and a mate, but maybe off to a shop to. Ive been thinking the commy v6, sounds all good but ive heard of a few guys have had issues, one ended up putting a lexus v8 in instead. And the cost of the conversion kit (ouch) other option i was thinking was the 2jz, found one cheapish, might have hold of a bellhousing thats bolts between the motor and my g52 box. But low down torque wouldnt be much.

Well ideas/opinions apprecriated
Cheers

Another option you should look into is a 1jz-gte. 2.5l toyota 6 twin turbo. You can pick one up for pretty cheap if you look around. They are boosting around 280hp 8)

Thats the one, yes. Went down on Fri night to have a look, and they've done a pretty good job so far.

Another question, does any one know if it possible to bolt up the v6 commy manual box to the transfercase that you would find in a ln106, Think the commy box could be a lil loooong :?
