SAS my Terrano

Well as the title says, I am going to think about a major project for me to undertake. This is not something that will be done over night, nor started till next year sometime.
Just thinking it out and doing my homework first.

Think I will probably start with the planning stage and do a storybook type setup, listing all the stages in order, then obtaining parts, (as cheaply as humanly possible cos this will be on one of the tightest budgets ever!) :wink:

Have to look out for lots of freebies, insert dreamer here. :shock:

Have started creating an album of pics of some conversions I have come across to give me plenty of ideas as I go.

Am open to all types of suggestions too, but will be sticking with the Terrano body as it is the starting point, hey I already got it.
Could look at a motor implant in the future, but the SAS is first and foremost now.

Easiest and probably cheapest way to SAS your terano is to sell it and buy a Safari :wink:

was just looking at that link.. what side is your diff head on in the front? drivers or passengers? the one in the pics is on the passengers, for us, and has probly used a jeep diff. dyna 44 or somthing. they are a bit hard to find over here and quite weak. id use a hilux diff with the centre fliped. in fact i will when i sas my pajero. but if your diff head is on the other side(drivers) then just get a hilux front diff. it will be cheaper and stronger.

are you going coils or leafs?

Nothing really, but have heard surf gear may be easiest to fit. Kinda like the idea of leaf springs front and rear as in the album pics, but im open to suggestions all the way.
When I have made my mind on the direction I will go, I will collect all parts before any work is started on the conversion, dont want the truck off the road too long.

your in the same boat as me, unless they changed the configuration between that model and yours?

do you have leafs in the rear at the moment?

find a safari chassis complete and do a body swap. Thay ay all the hard work is done.

Otherwise find a GQ safari front diff and arms springs etc. think ou should be abe to get diff ratios to match the terrano.

Nope, mine has coils in the rear.

some cool vid there. that white one has some wicked flex! that choped one looked cool also.

i think leafs will be the easier option to set up but coils is how i wana do mine. i want primo approach angle...

and that link to the off the shelf SAS kit... boggers on the rear and TSLs(?) on the front? random...

Did exactly that :lol:

Still got the Terrano and have plans for it, but it will take time. Thinking of a chopped down ute style, with wicked articualton, certed and re-reged.
