Has anyone had problems with the seat back slipping ???

Set it in place and drive along the road, Hit a bump and it moves

So I took one of the knobs off to see what was happening inside

In 3 of the 4 what ever was superposed to be in there fell out as a course red dust
the 4th one had been jammed up with what looked like the remains of some sort of bottle top.

Any help is appreciated

i haven't had that issue, but i do have a couple of seats that you can have bits from if your interested, seats were pretty old and very well used, (have been sitting outside under a tarp) but as far as i no mechanically are good even thought of having them recovered, but never bothered.

sorry i'd lover to help with material but as i say mine have been outside and material is stuffed, its why they came out. Only good for full recover or mechanical parts think they have a date with the dump soon..

Thanks rangi was worth a shot as material for the Recaro is very hard to come by.
Any one else that can help out ? would be much appreciated.

If I lived closer I'd be happy to take hem off your hands, but I think the cost of freight would be way too much.
If you can't give them away to anyone else and decide that they are going to the dump would you consider taking the knobs and friction pads off and posting them to Hastings.

I have taken mine apart and based on an idea from Geeves on ClubIsuzu, cut some leather washers

This has worked well on one seat but not the other ...
I think that it needs a packer behind the leather, will try a washer tomorrow
I had to give up 'cause it's pouring down out there ...

Just an update ...
The leather worked ok for a while then I think that it bedded in too much and so started slipping again ... I tried adding a washer behind the leather and it did not help I then looked at adding another layer of leather and when talking to my brother in law who does shoe repairs in his spare time he suggested some sole rubber.
Now this stuff has a fine pattern on one side and is quite firm.
We tried a couple of different thickness and found that 8mm works very well.

I can make these for the cost of the rubber (which is not cheep) and postage = $10 for a set of 4

sounds good both my seats do it now.

when i got my truck the previous owner had had this problem and got well feed up with it.
he tack welded the gears onto the frame so they dont turn at all
lucky for me i find the angle he set them at to be quite comfortable...........

Both mine were shockers two, go over a bump and they would wind down like the seat was possessed. A real easy option is to unscrew the knob and remove. Obtain a clear bit of plastic tube from payless Plastics roughly 15mm inside diameter. About 50 cents per meter. Cut about 9mm or so mm off. Put it over the spline and put the knob back over the top. Tighten. Throw away those felt washers as they most prob be stuffed anyway. Works a treat. Might have to experement will a mm of longer it the correct tention isn't required. Keeps the WOF inspector at bay.
