Monroe Shocks & Dobi Springs

Post by Disco-Blue »

Is anyone using Monroe Shocks or Dobi springs in their ride. I have just got a quote from my local tyre shop to fit a suspension lift and wanted to know if anybody has got them and if you can you let me know of your opinion of them.

Cheers :D

Monroe shocks are fine, I have found they do get a little hot in river beds (continuopus use) but not as much as OME shocks.

when hot they do not tend to change characteristics, I am now running commodore shocks as I broke the two front monroe shocks (drove over them on an uneven floor testing a new spring setup)

As far as the springs havent tried them but look at the spring rate and the standard spring rate make sure they are close to the same maybe slightly stronger if you are running bullbars etc. What are they going on?

Have you considered Chamberlain springs like Bill has? I know Paul D who designed these 4" lift ones. can PM you his number if you want.

He has been running these for about 7 or 8 years now, his was one of the first two KZJ-78's to be set up seriously. The 2nd one is 'The Handbag' built for the late Linda Simson.

As I understand the springs have not settled down and these two trucks have done a lot of hard tracks along now with a lot of other Prados. As Bill can testify they will give you pretty good articulation if combined with the correct shocks.

ARB use the Monroe shocks to make their Old Man Emu's. They revalve and re work them though for better off road performance.
