Hilux lift price?

Post by DaveM »

A mate is looking at a 2" lift for his '92 Hilux, and was quoted $3000 by the local 4wd shop.
Anyone done a lift lately as I'm trying to price a kit for him.
Does he need the diff locator on such a small lift? What would he need? Longer brake lines?

Cheers,
Dave

No list, but it was a tough dog lift, and he was told it included the required diff locator, so would assume it was 4 shock, springs locator.

Do you need this locator for a 2" lift?

I brought EFS of 4wb bits here, from memory it was about 2.2k that was 2inch lifted springs all round and 2in longer shocks, and bushes and u bolts and nuts. Me and a mate fitted in an afternoon/evening. Didnt bother with break hoses they are tight but not F(*&ked. If doin it your self the drivers front wheel is a the worst, rear of it is easy as :wink:

try steve (supralux) if he is still selling the maxitrac stuff. front springs were around $280, rears about $380 and 4 shocks are about $530.

if hes not selling it then get a price off repco, they sell them but are a wee bit more expensive, but would still be alot less than 3G!

Are you doing any of the work? the only parts you need apart from springs and shocks are new u bolts for the front drivers side, and a set of bushes (well you have it apart you may as well).

Then just time it is not a difficult job the only trick is the front drivers side you need to get a ratchet tie down or similar to hold the diff forward in the right place to get the location pin in.

It can be swaped in a couple of hours if you are all organised start with the front and drivers side it is the hardest to do.

If you move the diff forward there are a couple of other things you have to do (cut and weld for steering).

Mine cost me about

$1000 for springs (50MM lifted)
$ 880 for shocks (replaced now as they were not good enough)
$ 20 U bolt (front drivers side)
$ 160 Bushes (replaced all 4 corners)

and about 3.5 hours on my own fitting them :evil: Would have a second pair of hands next time. Call Rick he has good prices or go to Repco but make sure you get hold of someone who knows something there! There are some good Repco's and there are a lot that don't have the staff or training.
