Hi All,

Question for anyone that might be able to help:

1. If I was to fix up a diesel truck that is currently on A Class rego (Farm Vehicle) and put it back on road would I have to pay RUC on KMs travelled off road to get back to normal Rego?

2. What if I were to convert the truck to a petrol engine? Would I have to get RUC up to date first?

This wagon has done about 95,000 kms since last RUC paid so think that would cost a fortune to bring up to date.

3. What does it cost to register a homebuilt vechicle for the first time? (this might be a cheaper option)

I believe that because it is currently registered as a farm vehicle you should not have to bring it up to date ...

From the LTSA website ...

http://www.landtransport.govt.nz/factsheets/38.html

Call our RUC Call Centre on 0800 655 644.

umm i think you can claim the mileage back but i think you have to buy the mileage before you can claim it back yes silly i know but that is bureaucracy

i´m not sure if that applies to farm vehicles but with trucks you have to do it that way

you never know there maybe someone there with their head on straight
