Hi,
I know there has been some discussion on the relative strengths of standard Toyota 8" diffs.
Does anybody know if a High Pinion with ARB locker is much stronger than a Std diff with ARB locker when used in the front.

Also what are peoples opinion on the use trailing steering arms used in conjunction with high pinion versus high steer arms in front of the diff.
Will be on coil sprung with panard rod in front of diff.

Thanks in advance
Tim

I have been told an 8" diff will be more prone to breakage if there is a V8 up the front, if its a V6 then less of a drama, not sure about the ARB thing though.

people say that 8" diffs take 400 hp but if you follow the rally scene you will find that they dont reliably, and now some of the rally guys are taking out there 8" and putting l/c heads in the rear cause they are sick of replacing heads after every 2nd rally

High Pinion Diffs have reverse cut gears. So this means your not running on the back face of a rear diff that is turned around as placed in the front. So it isn't stronger that a rear diff but is as strong with the reverse cut gears... I have one in the front of my truck and it works just fine...

Hope this helps...
