new thread.

limited numbers so it doesnt get to stupid. will be a max of 15 vehicles.

first to confirm will be in.

will be a $20 per vehicle fee plus extra $10 for non assn members. money will go towards something 4x4 related and worthwhile...havent decided what yet (no im not going to use it for my fuel bill :roll:

)

will try to make it an assn trip as well... after i find out how to do it :wink:

wheres mike ?

we will be camping at the Ngaroma block so tents or other sleeping arangements(in your vehicle) will be essential or you can make your own arangements to stay at the PUREORA H.Q CABINS (contact D.O.C for more info)and travel to and from at your own lesure.

beers and storys before bed etc.

NO DRINKING AND DRIVING ! ( i will personally chop down anyone who does or trys to)

Ok make sure Bob has it in the next newsletter so we are covered insurance wise, the visitor fee goes to the ORE Assn account I believe (mike or mark can confirm). ORE Assn trip rules would apply being an ORE Assn trip.

Whats the terrain like? is it suitabel for shinys?, where exactly do we contact for cabins?

varying terrain from deep holes and big rutted hills to hard flat clay and gravel roads to access the area. many options for most types of vehicles hard core or shiney,theres pretty much most things there to satisfy anyone :wink:

contact D.O.C for cabin info (pureora forest park H.Q cabins about 30 min gravel road drive from camp site)

I was watching a doco on the maori channel the other night about 1080.

The presenter made a very good comment.

If you and me discharge waste into the stream behind our factory we get fined big time, but its OK for DOC to pollute our bush streams and kill innocent animals and get away with no punishment at all. In fact, they get given more money to do it over and over again.

Go figure

ever since they set the precident 12 years ago when the same department considered it had done no wrong and wasnt responsible when they killed 14 people on the west coast through negligence......

.......I don't know of any private company or individual that dosent get prosecuted for being responsible for causing death :scratch:

Aha!! Jerry can come to? at last a trip in our area and if Jerry cant come, he will stop moaning at me cos I havent yet been to Wellington to drive thier tracks!!

, No point running the go4wd trip if this is going and I was going to postpone it until summer anyway.....

But I dont really expect you WILL make it, its up past PN and you might get lost and we would be stuck with you.... Or you could swing by here and I will guide you up the parapara highway. there are a few turnoffs and you might take the wrong one!!!

Sorry BOB, WOPASS is the clearly identified TRIP LEADER and its up to him whether we have to have RATED HOOKS or a bit of number 8 wire, if someone gets a hook in the head then OSH will be knocking on his door.

you can turn up with number 8 wire if you like but if you dont want your truck torn to bits by my cruiser recovering you then it will need to be a bit more substantial :wink:

vehicles that dont have chassis mounted hooks wont be allowed to do the harder sections and will be limited to the sections of track that are relativly tame. or they can be left at the camp site and hitch a ride with a better set up truck.

conversly there is a massive amount of tracks in there and will need a fair amount of recon work as i only know some of them. im sure that SKID would know more of the tracks so having him there will be great,im hoping that rangilux puts his hand up as well ?

will be a more detailed trip shedule closer to the date when we have a better idea of numbers as that will play a big part in what,where,and how etc.

i will however be checking vehicles before the trip starts so you better be ready for it :wink:

(im fairly leaniant and realistic...most of the time)

dude, only been there once, and that was right at the start when the tracks were made. probably a good idea to hit up rangielux for the weekend if he hasn't sold his truck.

dude, we have pureora over here at Tihoi, which is only 30 mins away rather than 90 mins. the club go there once a year and I tend to stay away :roll:

we concentrate more on our side which we did a working bee on over the weekend.

what are the tracks like on that side mate ? may be an option for a group to head that way on one of the days to split things up ?
