I thought I'd bet the ball rolling early, coz I will be going away in the morning.

heading over to the Hawkes Bay with my daughter to dump her on the grandparents and go watch the South Africa versus New Zealand 4x4 Trial on Saturday.

should be good.

No doubt my inbox will be full of ORE topic notifications when I get home in time to watch the 4x4 Extreme on TV3.

I took my rear sway bar off and didnt notice to much difference on road, but worked better off road . How much difference did taking the front bar off make off road. I was told the front wouldn't make much difference off road but would effect on road handling considerably. Just wondering :?:

Cheers

Cheers Matt.

Mikey, with the front one off it seemed a hell of a lot softer in the suspension, both on and off the road. Soft meaning it soaked up the bumps better, probably due to the better articulation, not that IFS is that good. There was a small added roll in corners on road, but seemed lighter on the steering.
Now that the rear is off too, there is a shitload of body roll, the missus aint gonna like ridin in it now. 8) Will let you know after Sunday what the ride is like off road.

still in the driveway on stands.. some moron bought the wrong power steering box  seems all 130 hilux one's aren't the same. the new one is shorter and just won't reach. did consider swapping over the front parts (4 bolts where shaft comes out) but i get the feeling that its where the old one was leeking so probably would just be transfering the problem to the new one. bugger

I finally stopped procrastinating this week. Signed up for ORE membership. :D Went to see Rick at 4WD acc and ordered my 3" Calmini suspension lift for the Escudo. While I was there I bought one of his snorkels and I fitted it the other night.

Big thanks to Rick. I have also jacked up a date next month to go see an engineering mate to make up some bars and recovery points for me. :D

Spent the morning fixing the old ladys computer. Then decided to go into town for a few things and just as I was about to turn onto motorway way noticed temp gauge was very high. Pulled over and poured some cold water over the radiator and limped home :( I am just hoping I haven't cracked the head as the temp gauge was in the red. After getting home stuck the hose over the radiator to cool the truck down. :(

Guess I'll find out tomorrow what the damage is. Found the problem to be a hole in the radiator right at the top.

Spent the day at Aotea Block with the Cruiser Club  [sorry this was a cruisr club trip only, there will be other invite trips soon] had one on its side and another had a front wheel passing it going down a hill, got to the top of some of those climbs and stuff, dented the drivers door a bit more and a couple of others. came across some young newbie guys who didn't know a lot about offroading who were also in there in the afternoon no hooks or anything, we had to help them push a stuck surf where they had fallen into the ruts, the guy was worried that he would roll it. told them to sign up to ORE for the training session coming up soon (Mark ) and all the future trips coming up. loads of trail bikes in there down the bottom even though they know to stay up the top when 4wd's are in there.

Got a bit hot on the way home...got near the red mark at the top of the wainui hill stopped there for a bit not using water and its still green and the temp goes down to normal so assuming that the radiator is full of crud and stuff......its about due to come out for a soak in the bath and a flush. stopped of at Tu's on the way home and James an Jamie were there. Guess I'm taking the Zuk out to the block tomorrow.

Will post up some pics later when I get time
