Springs over axle for SJ410

Can anyone tell me whats involved in mounting the springs over the axle? It looks as if it may be quite straightforward - just swap the U-bolt mounts left for right so the shocks will still go on, & turn them up the other way. But will the steering arm still be long enough, and will I have problems with driveshaft lengths? Thanx

If you dont get too much help here, try a visit to the Zuk forum

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/nzook/

Im sure a few of the boys have done this and I know of one 413 getting a SPOA at the rear and coiled front all with Hilux axles 8)
Keep in mind that 410's have a very narrow track so a lift of this size will affect your sideways stability (assuming you are still running 410 running gear?)

Hi
The front drag link is long enough , but not ideal . On a budget its that simple , may need spacers in the drive line etc and in the long run something do to teh front steering and you get lots of bump steer , as you do with that amount of lift anyway you do it . This is all info I have only read about thou . A guy on the zuk forum is currently working throu a spring over on a 413 so post there and he sould be able to help you .

Also bear in mind this will lift the thing 4-5 inches , most probably 5 . that a far bit on 410's narrow track . I would recomend wider axles !!!!

Cheers

Chris

Ps have a set of 413 axles in teh shed I would be happy to part with for a few $$$$$ :-)

Thanx for your help. I'll stick with the 410 axles cos I've got a spare set & I think the 413 has a higher ratio diff so will cause few problems for the baby engine. I might have a go at it anyway when I've got a spare weekend, since I can flick it back if it's too unstable. I did find more help on the zook site too thanx
