hi,

i have a 91' swb pajerp sft top and i really want to raise it up a bit without spending a wad of cash...and im not that mechanically minded...can any one help?

Do a search here mate - you'll find it all.....

Basically get a set of longer coils for the rear - to change them it is very easy, undo the lower shock mount and jack the vehicle up by the chassis or body - the springs fall out. Then 'crank' the front torsion bars, there is a lock nut to undo then start winding. This is at the rear of the torsion bar - about under the rear seats. Its easiest to do without weight on it (jack the front up) and just don't get carried away.

ok but i have the hyradulic suspension in it so the torsion nuts are located in a very arkward place... they are facing upwardss instead of i believe downwards...and i cant get awrench in there.where can i get the springs from?how long woould it tkae roughly to do this procedure.

i got the long wheel base spring in the rear end of my swb. lifted the truck up 50mm, and just wound up the torson bar for the front.

body lift kit costed me $60.

went to blacks for the bolts and nuts.
Universal plastics for the blocks, they even cut them to lengh for me too.
spent about 3 hours doing the lift

so u just went to like a wreckers and got some rear springs out of a lwb pajero? would it work the same for the front? this may soubnd stupid but i have no clue how to mdo they body lift with the blocsk ands stuff is ther someplace that i can go to and get it shown or help put them in?

Ok so what are you trying to do with it - Why do you want to lift it? Bigger tyres?

LWB springs will fit as will the ones you saw on Trade me. They look like a not to bad spring & are a dual rate - gets firmer as more load goes on them.

If you go more than 2 inch's in spring lift you will run into driveshaft vibrations, and there is no point going more than that because thats all the front will manage to match.

I don't think you can manually wind the front torsions up if you have hydraulic adjustment. May have to throw away the hydraulic adjusters and start again.

I put in some cobra springs which I think were justover $200.
EFS do Pajero stuff - their link is on the left of the screen under 4WDbits
Old Man Emu I think are $250 a pair
Repco, BNT, etc can all supply lift springs as well.

As for a body lift, only really any point if your tyres won't clear the body, it is cheap to do but then you need to certify etc by the sounds of things which is the dear part - there are body lift kits for Pajero's on Trade me.

i need to lift it as there is bugger all clearance i most generally get on lips and stuff like that...yes bigger tyres will be on ther way but i jsut recentyl bought my pja and it came with 5 new tires so will use them till i can afford bigger ones.

i used lwb raised kings in the rear of mine. i wound up the torsions in the front and my adjusters are in that terrible place but with persistance it paid off. i also fliped my front upper balljoints. then with a little triming i could fit 33s. they still rubbed a bit on full compression, but not enough to really worry me. i didnt do the bodylift untill was fitted 35s, and even then i did as smaller lift as i could get away with as i didnt want it geting unneccessaryly (spell) top heavy. works a treat now.

Ive got some LWB pajero springs if your interested?

I have a LWB gen2 pajero, I have uprated springs in the back, gave me 50mm lift. Cranked the torsion bars 50mm. Removed the rear swaybar which after the poulter trip made hell of a difference. I have also made swaybar disconnects for the front which with a few more tweaks will work a treat.

Still debating to do the ball joint flip yet?

what is this ball joint flip do, i have not looked at paj susp but a mate has one.

Have a sift through, about 1/3rd of the way down is lifting a Pajero /sway bars etc
Sway bars - you lose handling but gain articulation off road. Be wary when taking off the front one as it rolls alot on the road.

and on the 2nd page is the Ball joint flip stuff. Ball joint flip is a good easy mod.

To be honest I dont know what they would be worth mate, make us an offer if you are interested no probs if your not. I would expect 40mm plus lift.

Does yours have the height adjustable suspension?

Where are you in CHC? maybe we could meet up sometime and I can show you what I have done to mine.

ok yeh that would be great to meet and see wat youve done...im in the papanui area mostly but can be flexible. yeh mine has the adjustable type things in it but to be hoenst thier pretty useless,well mine are. .do you have a way i can contact you and arrange some plaqce to meet?

i have the factory adjustable suspension also and putting the lifted springs in had no effect on the adjustability of it. still went up when the button was pressed. the only thing that changed after lifting was when i pressed the button it would max out the front sus and get on to the bumpstops. im off to a workshop on sat to have a look at a SASd paj... should be interesting....

ok si it wont inhibit it or anything yeh i was haing a fiddle with the adjustables today it works quite well actually,sas as in special air sevice or ias it something else?

have a look at "muzzaduck"on trade-me he is into his pajeros in a big way, he is a bloody good fella,should tell you the in & outs about lifting etc, cheers tim
