Hi

Just joined for the hell of it, but it should be pretty handy for learning more about the 4wd. I have a 92 Hilux d/cab with just the standard 2.8. I bought it about a year ago and have spent more than I bought it for in fixing it - from 4wd - with the latest prob being the steering.

Anyway after thats fixed then I am keen to get some 33" tyres to fit. Not sure whether or not it is worth getting some headers and a larger exhaust to help free up some power. Any suggestions are welcome...

You may have some rubbing issues with the 33" tyres you can redril the perches and move the diff forward for clearance (hits the firewall) or a body lift.

What have you done so far? What is the steering problem too?

oh k well i have 31" tyres at the mo and they seem to have heaps of clearance so i dont think 33" will be a problem but i will figure it out when i get them if there is a problem.

steering will not self centre after going around a corner and it has to be turned back to go straight. the truck needs a wheel alignment and such so im gona get the same people to take a look at it while they have it.

headers and a big bore will help alot save the head to as 4 the 33s do you have running boards if so u will need to ramove them

33's will require your front axle to be moved forward 50mm to avaoid rubbing while offroad, this can be achieved very easily.........redrill spring mount holes 50mm backwards of where they are now (on axle housing) shorten drag link and torque rod to suit (requires welding), lengthen ot steering slip joint to max.....thats it

RE: your steering problem you should look at buying an after market return to centre steering dampner. Robbo on here sells them maybe flick him a PM.
