Project WTF!?!

Post by SupraLux »

Well, Mikes continuous guessing is driving me mad, so here it is... the new project. As with all of my projects it will have a 2-week timeframe, only this one actually stands a good chance of only taking that long (despite it being the worst-looking starting point of any of my projects to date) - and heres why:

1. Its a Toyota

2. Its MY OLD Toyota - its come back to me

3. I have virtually everything I need bar a couple of bits that Jafa will send me soon :)

4. Its a Toyota

And here it is:
Image

Image

For the more observant old-timers on here - its the original SupraLux... and whats more this means my login name here will finally make sense again :)

So, what we have to work with - a YN65 double-cab body and chassis. Dropped front mount. rears in the front and in the rear, all front metalwork removed, no deck, huge mess inside.

The plan - One 6M-GEU 3 litre Supra motor with G52 5-speed and dual transfer cases - all courtesy of Rok, in part exchange for a 5 litre injected Holden V8 with 4-stage auto - I'm over the Isuzu project for now... will come back to it later... this gets me mobile and in the rocks again... 36" Simexes - I've got em here from the MU, front Lokka - sitting here, rear open for now - probably either e-locker or ARB for road manners - thats down the track, no hurry. custom tube deck. custom metalwork up front - more room for the rad etc assuming that doesn't go behind the cab. Winch, 12,000lb, behind the cab (mid-mount) running to the rear then front for dual pulls. either Surf or safari power steering feeding Jafas awesome hi-steer arms with his beefy-as tie rods and drag links. and a looong-link coily rear so I can get a better RTI than Al :)... Probably a few other things, but you get the idea...

Ok, so the cats out of the bag - I wasn't going to say anything but someone was going to come around and see it anyway, so here it is...

Well, its a rather short "long story"... It donated the engine for Conans Supra Surf buildup, then donated the front axle to my MU, then sat in the shed for a while, then got given to someone who sold it to someone else who never picked it up and then I was visiting a mate who just happened through a series of concidences to have it in his garage and sold it back to me real cheap... He had cut off all the front just to see what would happen :)

Sooo... now its mine again - thanks for reminding me how it looked... but actually this is how it looked when I first bought it...

Image

First mod was a set of corolla seats after driving it to Dunedin and needing a new spine after the trip... the bench seat had been 'repaired' with bits of old swannie stuffed in the springs and was lumpy and hard and VERY uncomfortable... I might throw in other tidbits of the history of the truck as I remember them too... its had quite a bit done over the time I had it...

That was the basis of Project big dick (the big horn) NJ.
Fortunatly all is not wasted as the injected V8 is going to end up in a proper 4wd (yeah, I know everyone, bring it on).
Can't call mine project Big Dick though as the 39.5" swampers made my rig "Small Dick" (but big tyres), and the Holden and auto makes it "Big dick" (and injected v8). So if it is all ablanced out, I reckon that makes it "Standard DicK" (and before you say it Rex, yes, just like the owner  )
Steve has a bit to do to get the ole 'lux back up to scratch, so I spose I should hurray up and get my drivetrain out and give it to him so he can carry on.
Still, it'll only be a 2 week build eh Steve?

I was still working towards the Bighorn project when this popped up - given the history I couldn't pass it up so the Bighorn is still there, just on the backburner for now...

As a added insentive to get another good vehicle out to the sheffield event I'd like to offer you (steve) a deal.

If you get Superlux up and running for the sheffield event I well pay for your entery fee and a snag :D .Thats 4 weeks, twice as long as your above build time

If for some reason you cant get her ready in time then I get the use of your SIMEX'S for the day  (I well give you some BEERS a snag :D etc for there use of cause)

I know how much you would like to see a NISSAN do well, that alone should keep you well motivated :)

Its a win win.more ORE vehicles the better

Well, thats tempting - however my timeframe is being throttled by no engine/box which is outside of my control... you'll need to talk to Rok about that one.

Hmmm... now thats a bit different... I suppose you want to borrow my wife and my chainsaw as well?...

However, I'm not sure I would go with that - unless maybe if you have 100mm of suspension lift and a body lift as well to clear room for them, and also agree to pay for or replace the tyres should you damage them... seriously, I have $2500 invested in the rims and tyres and as much as I'd like to see other ORE members do well, I'd be a little nervous about loaning them out. I certainly couldn't afford to replace them if I had to at this point...

Oh, and its a Nissan - I'm not sure I could live with the idea that my tyres were bolted to one of them, and the tyres would probably never forgive me :P

perhaps I should aim to get the surf back together if there is a race, its only been apart for 10 months now! If steve can build that in two/four weeks surely I can put my engine back together and nibs can finish the 40 :D

Dont you mean MY coffee maker............

Did they ever sort out who won the farkin thing? Will the winner actually recieve the coffee maker? Will Steve really only take 2 weeks? Will Mike ever get the surf going again? Is Nibby really a man? Why did George Bush go into Iraq? Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar? Yes, we have no banana's........

Tune in next week for the answers to all these questions and more, yes, it's another episode of.....

"Give me the f*#k my coffee maker!!"

Starring Goose, as the mysterious coffee adict.....

And Niblik, as his transsexual love slave.......

Also starring Mike and Steve, as the evil coffee barons, hell bent on destroying Goose and Niblik's coffee fueled love.......

NB; For those of you about to make fun of Me and Nibby and the whole transsexual love slave thing, we're actors, OK!! We're professionals, it's all part of the job...... just like those 2 dudes from Brokeback Mountain, only less gay, cause there's no fishing or camping involved..... and we dont do bad stuff to each other's bottoms, we just hug and stuff, well, except Nibby, cause he loves the cock, he's the cock master, so I just close my eyes and think of Jennifer Aniston, and hey, it feels kinda nice, it's all like "bow-chicka-bow-wow", you know 70's porno style, and if I keep my eyes closed, then I'm not really gay, cause if I cant see it, it's not real, and anyway, has anyone noticed how much time Mike and Steve spend together? (shift the focus.....shift..... the..... focus....) and besides, Mike drives a landrover!! A landrover!!!! And Steve had a MU!!!! So who's the nancy boys now??!! HUH!!?? HUH!!????!!! Does Steve say "mu" and Mike slips on his SAT's and climbs aboard for some serious bovine fantasy lovin??!! You sick freaks!! But hey, I shouldn't judge, each to their own, I suppose.....

So, what I'm trying to say here is, Mike, Steve....

Give me the f*$k my coffee maker!

I thought it was drawn and Steve won it? Anyway with his two week build he will need it anyway.

Back on the topic Goose are you going to be wearing the Bikini at the Sheffield mud plug? And all that typing you must be on your 5th cup already!

No, Steve didn't win it, according to him and Mike, I won it.... or nibby.... or me...... or nibby....... and in the ensuing YEAR since then, they've been devising clever ways of not giving it to either of us!!

And, Mr steve_t647-shmartypants, I'm on my 4th coffee!!! I got up at 2 today......

As for the bikini, well, i jiggle for tips

Thanks Goose, I needed the humor... still pissing myself.

The coffee maker was one I donated to Mike to give away to people who signed up to support the site when the subscriptions were started. Neither Mike nor I can remember who won it - Nibby or Goose... fortunately due to their... ummm... familiarity with each other... Goose can just get up in the morning and make Nibby a coffee in bed with it... problem solved... :D

The actual coffee maker in question is possibly in Mikes hands... if not, its in the back of a small blue car at Riks place...

Maybe you could have shared custody? I have one here which is mine I never use - if I can find it one of you can have that one... :P

Steve

PS: Now get the hang outta my build thread all you thread-jackin weenies!

Oh, got a bay of the shed cleaned out and rolled the truck in there today.. so progress was made of a sort...
