I've just about finished finished stripping an FJ60 for parts, & ready to start putting them in the 40. The Plan is to put in the 5 speed box, and use the 60 rear springs and axle housing. That should move the rear axle almost far enough to match the longer gearbox & hopefully can use the same driveshaft.
Then I'll use the 60 front springs to move the front axle forward a little, and get the 60 rear driveshaft shortened to suit.
Question is - where's a good place to get a driveshaft shortened?
Once that's all done, I'll look at the more complicated job of doing the power steering transplant.
Anyone want any of the other FJ60 bits? Front axle housing complete with free-wheel hubs, disc brakes, 4.1 diff? 2F engine? Bull bars? Towbar? Doors? Panels? Glass? Ligts/lenses?
Shortening a Drive-shaft?

I can arrange that for you as well (chch)... I guess you just need to decide which direction to send it
Just remember if its a road-going truck you will need to have it done correctly, balanced and provide a copy of the balance report to the certifier
If you are just building a bush truck then the balancing is not required, but the shaft needs to be shortened correctly so that the balance is as close to good as possible.
