Suzuki SJ 410 carb replacement - Info wanted

Hi - I have a SJ 410, chassis NZ 00334, standard 1 litre engine type F10A. I'm not very happy with the carburettor as it hesitates under acceleration and seems to flood easily. A quick 'net search shows the standard carb is commonly replaced.
Our use is pretty mild - trips up rivers for picnics and spotlighting on hilly farms. I'd appreciate any information about what to choose and where to get it from. Is there a garage or supplier in Christchurch that can help with this conversion?
Also, is there a recommended supplier for a clutch kit? Are there any tips for helping the clutch thrust (release) bearing last longer despite deep water crossings? Thanks - Tony
