finally had a chance today to get off road for a play :D

But low and behold I could not engage LOW 4WD

have 93 surf with auto trannie

can engage High 4WD with the switch thingee, but when you push lever forward to engage LOW range it is feels stiff and will not 'go thru' at all

can anyone suggest what the problem is?????

Thanks

do you have to push down on the lever at the same time?

My 1st surf (88 manual tho...) did the same thing when we got it, I ended up being a little "brutal" with it  (no hammers or nothin!! Just really REALLY pushed it) and it was good as gold after that..... ( same thing, 2wd, sweet, hi4wd, sweet.... just real stiff to low....)not that I'm suggesting you do that.... (cover my ass, cover my ass.........)
Was told that "if they dont get used, they do that" by the caryard that sold it to us.......

soooooo...... ummmmm....... how brave are you?

seriously tho, being an auto, push button 4wd, later model..... I'm working on the assumption  that the hi to lo lever still functions exactly the same, changing the gear manually.

ehhhhh, I dunno....... have a think about it.... and let us know what you decide :thumleft:

yea mine was the same when i got it, was pretty stiff/ crunchy first time (i assume it had probably never been used) but now its sweet, i guess you have two chances and two choices

got to the bottom [so to speak] of the problem, turned out when I did the body/suspension lift some of the bend undercarriage ended up affecting the LOW 4WD thingee, so with a big hammer [just kidding] managed to sort things out :D
