Conway river 26/08/07

Post by albundy »

Ran a CLROC trip down the Conway River yesterday, lowest river flow I have ever seen in there. No deep holes on the trail, you had to go looking for them and we did. Bottom hard as, usual soft spots not there. In the river by 1000 and home in CHCH by 1730. Hot day, some of the crew managed to get stuck only because they went looking for trouble. Easy run down the beach, and no the pig didn't need towing. I would want a decent amount of rainfall before I go down the Conway again, it was just too boring for my liking. I believe the members had a good day though, lots of tea dribnking but then that's what they are renowned for.

Conway River from inland road bridge to the beach and south to Conway Flat.

Not recommended mate. They will need a little experience in rivers and soft shit to do this trip. Come along one day with us and you will see for yourself.
