Has anyone got any pictures of what they have done to get hooks on the front of their luxes?

I destroyed one thread snatching a saffy and don't want to loose the other side when i need it most.

Pics of what you've got would be great.

One thing you should not snatch something that heavy in reverse! you got away with it this time but one day... when Murphy is watching....

Anyway I don't have any pic's but have a bar mounted to 4 bolts that run along the chassis crossmember and another 4 on the bottom of the 2 chassis rails have 2 hooks on the front and both are on the bar.

Sorry no pic, sorry for the thread jack but there are fabric loops (like those on race cars) if correctly mounted would these be suitable instead of a hook?

its been a long time since i hit the old porno web...
Sorry for the delay.

To be honest I have little understanding of whet you mean for the fabrick hoops? just loops of something mega strong?

Anyways back to mavrick. When the chap making the diff relocation plates has them finished he is interested in having a look at the front of the surf.

I had a look around and what you have done is what I presumed was best. 4 points across ther front and 2 either side under the chassis.

If anyone has a pic it would be super.

Id like to show the fella a pictorial to save hassles.

Chairs Tim.

What model Lux ya got?

mine, a LN106, i plan to make a bracket that bolts to the std mount locations, the 3 bolts across the fron, (these are a smaller bolt but every bit helps, there is also a captured nut, similiar size to the main ones about 100mm rearward of the mains, figure that should be enough :)

I try to mount them as part of the bumper mount (just makes everything that bit stronger) and I mount them through the chassi with crush tubes, I have no faith in captured nuts they arn't rated so waste of time using them with rated bolts .... the only exception I've made was for Bobs sanyong   what a bastard of thing to mount to, lets just say that was lots of 10mm plate and lots of welding
If you want I can see if I can get some pic's for you.... another source would be Jerry..... he knows everything there is to know about mounting hooks  just PM him

Cheers Reece

Solid axle surf is a LN60 (Diesel) or a YN60 (petrol)
LN65 is diesel hilux 1984-88 ish, same front, interior etc as Surf
