hey guys, just wondering how much of a suspension lift i need to do to fit 33" tyres under the 98 hilux (non ifs). i was thinking 80mm minimum as would really want these to be ok at max articulation and turning at the same time, so no rubbing at all.

cheers, gary

i have 32's on my 93 (ifs) with no lift so i wouldn't think you would need to do anything massive, but lets face it after your 33's you'll want 35's so if your going to lift it you might as well do it once and do it right - go as big as possible

ive only got a 2inch lift on my lux with 33's and get minimal rubbing and full artic and full lock. if i move the front axle forward a tad that will fix everything.

2" lift springs, then peel back the plastic in the wheel arch on the firewall and gently tap the seam over flat with an 8lb sledge :) That should eliminate most of the tyre damaging rub...

A more elegant solution is to do a 50mm body lift as well...

Remember that a spring lift doesn't give you anything more than a higher rest position for the truck. The wheel can still stuff fully into the guard, which means rub or tyre damage, hence the body lift is a good option in conjunction with the spring lift
