Any help would be really appreciated.

we have a 2l 2.4 ltr deisel turbo ssr 1990.
It has even less power than normal. do you know much about injectors and pumps and turbos. there is a small rubber hose on the motor that has been blocked with a small screw. obviously by the person that exchanged motors recently. He is not available now or i would ask him. could this blocked hose have anything to do woth lack of power.

Or could you send me in the right direction.

Have questioned that on a nissan I nearly bought, turns out the guy had removed the emission control stuff...

burning more oil?
smoking under load?
how many km ? if known
when last service?
is the air cleaner ok?
pressure leak between turbo and intake? (means less boost) should run about 7psi
fuel filter been changed latley?
run abottle of injecter cleaner? ever? can be effective preventative if done periodicly
you havn't just put bigger feet on? that sucks a bit of power.
is it auto? hows the box preforming ?
