surf light probs

Post by daz1 »

Hi Guys new to this hope someone can help...
When turning on lights shows hi beam on dash but only park lights are on (when in lo or hi beam) flash hi beam works tho! Some times fixes itself!!!? Not good when it's dark :? Loose connection somewhere? I am nervous to fiddle with the electrics. It's a 89 surf relatively standard btw.

Sounds like it could be a bad earth, or a problem with the relay...

Quote from Rick at 4wd Accessories "Toyota are good at the Japanese art of wireing, insulation tape and covers everywhere"

Good luck it could be just about anything and anywhere!

when head lite switch turned on it earths out a relay which puts power out to both bulbs via seperate 10A fuses. check for power at both lites (R/W). switch also outputs earth for high (R/G) and low beam (R/Y). (or mabe other way?)
