Does 2 batteries = 24 volt?

I'm guessing not in my case (93 Prado KZJ78). Someone has told me that a relay sends 24v to the starter, but the rest of the system will be 12v. The dash dial shows a max of 16 or 18v, but just want to double check this before I go and buy any electrics

All the Prados I've seen are 12 Volts. But some have duel batteries, but still 12V

It would be a duel if the batteries were fighting with each other for the charge. :wink:

Anyway, a lot of people run dual battery system for the winch. As long as the batteries are connected in parallel, they will remain 12v. If you connect them in series, then you have 24v (not good if your electrics are all 12v).

Yeh, they are in parallel.

Where I used to work had a sign in the dunny saying 'Duel flush system', which I assume meant you had to sword fight with the loo brush.

Toyota refers to the twin battery 12V setup as their "cold climate starting option"... Its basically a way of supplying twice the cold-cranking amps to the starter.
