Has anybody removed a windscreen from a '89 bighorn ??

I have to take the screen out to get the head lining out to deal to a large crease and some rust in the roof.

Can you do it yourself of is it better to get the professional to do it ??

Also does anyone have one spare as mine has a big crack in it and I think that it will break when removed.

Sounds like a job for a professional And if the screen your taking out is already cracked then you're wasting money putting it back in again. Surely you can get the hood lining out ?? Supralux might have some pointers on hoodlining removal. Give me a yell if you want the screen done.

So you are saying that I should not worry about saving the screen seeing as it has a big crack across the top ... that being the case I should have a go at popping it out myself

The lining is glued under the rubber like this ...



Once it is out I have a bit of work to do once the panel beaters have done their bit as I want to fit my radios up there out of harms way... hopefully

i need to put a new wind screen in too...
is it worth trying it on my own or paying 70 bucks to get it done?

Sorry to say boys these are the worst rubber fitted screens ever made.If you have a factory screen (ie never been replaced b4)Isuzu glued them into the rubber After nearly 20 yrs service the rubber gets brittle and wont handle the abuse to get it out nicely.We mostly recommend a new rubber as well,however if it has been out b4, someone has done the hard work all ready and it should be ok. Just be warned $70 bucks for a professional to do it would be well worth the moolar...

I poked and prodded my windscreen rubbers for weeks before deciding to bite the bullet and got someone 'professional' to do the job, best decision I made... worth every penny I paid, they did a really good job and I didn't even have to get my hands dirty

I had lots of problems trying to source a secondhand windscreen, they were either not available or were already 'cracked' due to someone (non-professional) trying to remove it.

To remove the windscreen, i wouldn't worry about getting a pro to remove it, vent your frustrations with a large hammer

To replace, buy new! (they're pretty cheap, even compared to secondhand) and get a pro to install it!
