Daihatsu Vs Zook Vs Polaris sunday afternoon fun

Post by meece4x4 »

sorry about pic quality guys .. from my phone cause I forgot to take the dam camera again

Just got back from the best sunday arvo fun Ive had in ages, Mrs and I took our trucks out to my mates place, he owns the local Polaris dealership and has just bought a farm not far out of town and has decided to put in a client test track down the back of the farm in an area thats too boggy for anything else, he is also thinking about opening it up for 4x4's in the local area and wanted to "test" some of the tracks he put in for the Polaris and see if they were suitable for 4x4's and shiny's.

Well .... with in 200 metres of the road I was bogged to the chassis .. took a bit of to-and-fro'ing but got out of that one ok went right down to the bottom of a long slope and thru a bog at the bottom, tried to turn around and come back out  thats when I discovered that the ground was rather waterlogged,

Feroza buried to the chassis again, this time i wasnt able to get out and the polaris had to tow me out ... even that had to engage both diff-locks to get enough traction to get back up onto the track. mrs had a go next using a different track ... got a bit further but go bellied as well ... Polaris to the rescue again

out of that bog then followed the slippery wet track further into the forest ... no major probs with this track .. Shiny's on AT's would struggle
tho hell even with our MT's we were slidding all over the place .. great fun untill the trees jump out at you.

drove up the track back to the road only to get stuck again 90 cm from the sodding metal road thanks to the polaris rutting it up badly ... got back on the metal and headed for home covered in mud head to toe and I was pretty dirty too ... 4 hours of unadultarated fun

was looking at the sway bar yesterday morning would you believe, then vistors arrived and i didnt have time to remove it before heading out to the track! ... todays job.

yeah pretty impressed with the Daihatsu's all round ... Mrs zook with front and rear LSD's could get maybe an extra car length in the bogs on me ... one thing i found the feroza wasnt too crash hot with was the very slippery uphill track with deep ruts and bumps leading back out onto the road :) .. trying to get back onto the road was fun, was fine except for the last 2 soding metres of track where it came back onto the road kept getting hung up on the last metre or so ... could have perciverd and chopped a bit of tea-tree down and filled the ruts .. was too buggered by then so got a tow .... mrs came behind me and managed to make it first time again due to the advantage of a front Lsd.

the upshot of yesterday was the mrs thought it might be a good idea for me to have a winch

awsum i found that my 31x10.5 pirrelli's seam to go well in all but the deep muddy ruts. with 20psi in them the seam to float and keep me moving forward. and i'd love to get a winch as well
