Ki Ora

Post by Cutbak »

I bought a 4x4 so I could get home on time from hunting trips so my wife wouldn't have a reason to rip the ears off me. Now I get home even later than I used to, I hardly go hunting any more (can't afford the ammo with petrol being the price it is), there's mud in the driveway, dirty snatch straps in her washing machine (shackles go in the dishwasher), and the kids walk mud right through the house (obviously wasn't me). Oh yeah, the kids. Oops, forgot to pick them up coz I was working on the truck -- uh-ohhh, forgot about dinner, I was working on the truck -- damn, supposed to be at the in-laws but I was working on the truck...

Actually the kids love it. Yeah, like -- "Hi Mum, did you keep our tea warm?" "Hi Mum, we had a cool day - we got lost, then we nearly rolled!" "Hi Mum, we're cold and wet because Dad got stuck in the river, can you run us a bath?" "Hi Mum, where do you want our muddy clothes?"

Good to know there's somewhere I can go where folks will understand!

Welcome aboard, there is one you havent gotten to yet (or maybe forgot to mention). That is the "You spend more time on that 4wd than with me" (also money can be substituted for time in some cases)

usualy followed by a night on the couch in the garage, or on the creaper under the truck, or ...

The best thing I know of to work around this is a "Hey Kids we will go for a drive and get out of your mum's way for a while" but as I was there and a friend (both with 4wd's) and we all left together a while was longer than she thought and it didn't realy work for him. 8)
