Well, as usual I'm thinking 2 steps ahead of where I should be and I saw this advertised and thought... hmmm... thats gotta be good...
With one of these in it - 170 odd k's and a full service history from brand new by a Holden agent - religiously maintained until the new owner bounced it through a ditch at speed...
So, combine it with this:
and maybe this:
Of course, there is a Hilux to finish first... just couldn't resist buying it so its ready to go
I'm actually enjoying building the lux... its a bit different to how I've done it before so I'll get to the MU when its done, but I'm not rushing anything - after all the Hilux is a 2-week build
It would need a little more work I think as I gave Rok an adaptor to fit the T/C that would make it a little easier...
Apparently the V6 and V8 both use the TH700R-4 auto, however the one under the Calais looks shorter than the one on the V8 was... so not sure whats going on there... will have to wait till I get it out and see...

the vn,vp use the 4l60 trans and after that went to the 4l60e which needs the engine ecu to work, good strong trans same as what i am using and cheap as well
ps i paid $130 for my gem

The transfer adaptor that I got off you Steve is only 67 mm long now, so With a bit of alloy plate, I would look at making the peice that bolts to the transfer case.
I also chopped about 60 mm off the output shaft of the auto. Have the all bits back and ready, but I'm in the middle of sanding down and painting one of the work vans this week, so the wreck has to wait for a bit. Should be underway again next week.
Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!
Update: Moving the old bighorn body yesterday evening and my MU (daily driver one) which I was towing the recovery trailer with (fortunately just after dragging the Holden home) decided to shit itself on the side of SH1 near Templeton... bloody hell!
Thats 2 strikes against it - I'm totally over this piece of junk. I might have to rebuild the holden and drive that...
It means I'm going to have to pull it apart and fix it when I should be working on the lux - grrrr.... I think the fuel shutoff solenoid has poo'd itself - which is what it did a month or so - again... Took me about 5 hours to strip, fix and re-assemble (after taking about the same amount of time to find the fault...)

Ah, which I assume is shorter than the TH700 behemoth... it looks a lot shorter.

Bastard
Still... for the extra $370 I'll be able to rig up a trip computer, climate air and cruise control in the MU
Oh you just cant beat the reliability of the mighty mu
What I do need is an auto console and shifter from a MU or a Wizard - anyone got one?
If youd said that a week ago....... I just threw all the auto bits i had lying round away. Still got driveshafts and half of your mu centre console here if you need. Ill get your towhook back to ya soon too, haha

I thought it a week ago, whats wrong with your mental telepathy???
I'll grab anything back you haven't used for sure - and I think I might be able to cludge up the Commy shifter to do the job - would just be nice to do it factory if I can. Did you have a towhook of mine?
