My 94 V6 Escudo had 16" rims at stock. I wanted to put 15" rims on it but they hit the brake calipers on the front axle. So for them to fit I got a pair of front hubs and calipers from a wrecker (Falsgrave Auto Spares here in CHCH) which were off an older model vitara that had the 1600 engine in it. Swapped all the gear over and gave my V6 hubs back to Falsgrave and then no cost was involved.

"Apparantly" Suzuki decided to put 16" rims on the V6 Escudo and then thought because they had more room behind the rim they would put bigger brakes in there too. Don't know if this is true but sounds good.

Got 15" rims on it now with larger tyres and pulls up just as good with the smaller front brakes.

what the others said :D My old V6 Vitara couldnt fit 15's without the brake mods, Mrs Zook had 16's factory but now has a set of 15's because the range of Mud tyres in 16's isnt as good.

Daihatsu Rocky and feroza also fit Zooks as well (I have zook mags on Ferozaush) Jeep and lada also have the same stud pattern as well , just to open up a bigger range of rims for ya :)

As far as I am aware, yes the V6 is the only one with the large front brakes.

Warning: Some older 1600 escudo's have slighly larger calipers and don't fit all 15" rims. My '89 3Dr won't wear the mangels white-spokes, but fits the ROH's fine. I almost got stung buying mangels second-hand, but luckily I tried them on before deciding.
'89 3-Dr scud. 2" body lift, 2" suspension, Snorkel, 31x10.5's, Evil-daughter chose the paint-job.
