Smoky Cruiser motor 13B-T
Smoky Cruiser motor 13B-T
I have an 89 MWB Landcruiser with a 13B-t motor in it which blows a bit of white/grey smoke on cold start-ups. I have only had it a month or 2 and its been doing it since i bought it. It has had a recent engine rebuild 1000 or so kms ago, but didnt have the injectors or diesel pump done at the same time. Im just wondaring if it is a typical for the direct injected diesel motor to do that when its cold, or do i have a fuel mix problem etc..
Not completely sure of myself here. But a diesel has injectors that are powered by a mechanical injector pump which takes power off the engine.
Therefore, pumping the throttle will only open and close the throttle body or butterfly. Don't think the diesel has a mechanical pump like a petrol has on a carbi.
Does that make sense.
My 13BT and 1HDT both make a white puff on start up and then smoke alittle after that. I'm putting it down to injectors not being A1.
Cheers
