Smoky Landcruiser 13B-t
Smoky Landcruiser 13B-t
I have an 89 MWB Landcruiser with a 13B-t motor in it which blows a bit of white/grey smoke on cold start-ups. I have only had it a month or 2 and its been doing it since i bought it. It has had a recent engine rebuild 1000 or so kms ago, but didnt have the injectors or diesel pump done at the same time. Im just wondaring if it is a typical for the direct injected diesel motor to do that when its cold, or do i have a fuel mix problem etc..
Hey this is the same as the other question.
The 13BT only has the glow screen setup, no glowplugs. No easy way to make the screen glow for longer other than hardwiring it. Plus its the initial puff thats probably the nuisance. The 13BT and 12HT both throw a fair bit of diesel through on start up, so not too much to worry about there.
That second comment about air in your fuel lines. Your truck would run on three cylinders and sound very lumpy if an injector line was allowing air into the fuel.
I would throw some renozzled injectors into it and see how that effects it.

When I had a diesel I always used Diesel Services Limited, round behind Beau Repairs on Blenheim Road. They came recommended by quite a few people when I moved to Christchurch.
