got talking to someone today about a 3'' lift

got talking to a guy today who does alot of offroading, he ownes a nice safari short wheelbase with 35'' tyres and a 3'' lift with no body lift.
the springs are 2'' lift springs but for a long wheelbase saf, obviously the extra weight reduction allows the extra lift, ome shocks, correction bushes, swaybar completly removed, the only other mod was an adjustable panhard rod at the rear. i asked how it drove and he said no probs watsoever and offroad it was awesome ( and he did use it proper).
well the information i have picked up over the last month or so has lead me to believe anything above a 2'' lift is a nightmare, it turns out its not that bad, and becouse the reciept says ''2'' lift'' certification isnt reqd ( i know alot of people will have something to say about that) but my question is has anyone else had probs with this method.
he may even be a member here he is from hamilton and runs a tyre dealers.
