Shaky brakes

Post by kruzin »

My 89 70 series shakes like hell when i put the brakes on. I have changed the front brake pads and its still doing it. (they needed doing anyway). It shakes the steering wheel so im guessing its the front brakes causeing the problem. I had a good look at the rotors and they were pretty true so maby its the slave cylinders?

Before you take the disc's off check all your suspension joints are tight.
jack it and give it a good shake in all directions. If anything loose or worn will show up under brakes. Just another thing to rule out.

The kingpin bearings can also cause similar effects. I agree Jack the front of the truck up and wriggke the wheels see if there is any movement and remember 1 or 2 mm is a lot with the weight of the truck.

Also look at the wear pattern on the tyres if uneaven it could be a clue.

I suspect the rotors also but it is worth having a look for anything moving that could make it worse.
