I have an R series gearbox and want to split the transfer case from the gearbox.
I have undone all the bolts securing the transfer to the gearbox and have remove the high low lever assembly but it will not budge.
I have tried a copper face hammer and working it all around but still no joy.
Anything obvious I have missed?
Cheers
Matt.
LN130 transfer case separation
Okay got that sorted, can't tell you what it was though
The area between the gearbox and the transfer case proper where the coupler is was filled with oil and sludge. From the looks of things this area shouldn't have oil in it.
If that's correct then do I need to replace the seal on the gearbox end?
Cheers

It would make sense why you have it out to replace any seals you can get to. Because murphys law would have it that if you put it back in without changing them then those seals are guaranteed to go
