I already know what my weekend has in store for me.

Saturday morning I have to work.

In the afternoon I plan to install this into my 80 series...............................




and also install this bad boy into my 40 series.......................




and then Sunday I plan to check them both out, as you do.

Yep i know what i'll be doing aswell.

Its me 21st birthday on Saturday!
Having a piss up at the pub with all the family, friends an work mates.
Should be good.

However sadly i do have a funeral of a work mate saturday afternoon

yesterday afternoon Klem rang me up to go look at a site for a rides fundraiser we're going to do. So I met him there after work, only 1km from the centre of town , and we played around sorting out a short series of tracks to drive.

sat: Went for a small drive, still learning the new truck.

Sun: Help pull out the starter from the pegiro and the radiator well the thing that had more mud then its ablty to cool

brought some 32" wranglers for the surf and spent the arvo putting them on.

spent 6 hours at the workshop finishing the vitara removable winch ,looks cool on, and put the plastic bumper on no see anything of the mount

will do, didn't take the camera with me, this morning but will post soon as

Things done so far:

- Front & rear diff oil changed
- Engine oil & filter changed
- Transfer case oil changed
- Power steering oil changed
- Radiator drained, system flushed and charged with fresh coolant
- Front end greased
- Tyres rotated
- Brakes cleaned & adjusted
- New deeper transmission pan prepped and painted

Ran out of daylight and now its raining outside (don't have a garage).

Lets see what gets done tomorrow.

a air bagged 200 vitara is a bit differant than a surf to fit to , this is a under the radar fitment

With my birthday yesterday I had dropped a few hints about things needed for the jeep, so I now have a full set of deep dish mats for the front and back of the jeep to contain the mud and water. Also money to go and visit WTBS on Monday and buy a recovery strop, just what I have been after.

Had the Novus man come and visit on Thursday as a crack in the windscreen had failed the warrant, he took one look at the windscreen and recommended a brand new one, insurance will cover it. Great - I will be able to see the mud coming much clearer

Hey Downunderxj, do you have pics of your Ford flathead restoration project and progress. Sounds like fun.

Today:
1)cleaned and adjusted brakes, now they work worse than before.
2)decided to strat making my tube front bar, decided also that i really really really really ought to leave the welding to people that can actually weld..... also discovered that a grinder hides all sins
Tomorrow:
Will cock up some more welds, and grind the crap outa them so no-one knows.

Progress has been slow this year, this was my grandfathers truck from new, and I bought it up north in January 2006. The cab and deck have been removed, just the motor and drive train needs to come out now before I can start repairing the rust in the chassis, painting it and starting on the actual restoration.

When the Novus man came to look at the jeep windscreen he saw the bonnet from the Ford and instantly recognised it for what it was, we spent more time talking about old Fords than the Jeep

Looks great for a 70 year old. I don't like Fords in general, but flathead engine is a classic and deserves respect.

You should start a new thread and keep us updated on yor progress. My dream is to do something similar, but with a 1941 Willy's...

Just need to find time to swap the turbo over now

bought a new cruiser its in CHCH so will be getting some work done on it down there b4 bringing it back up here, went for a play at ashurst, managed to destroy my new radiator in the lux, so its up for sale as is..

Ha, had looked at that cruiser! Looks a nice machine! You can rip that spark arrestor off - being a turbo I'm pretty sure it doesn't need it.

Its a typical upgrade, hilux/surf to cruiser. I did the same thing and so have others.
