3.8 v6 into Vitara? Any experience with this?

Can anyone give me some tips about any problems I might run into. I looked at J18A & J20A but complete with computer, loom, exhaust manifold etc I'd be looking at $2800-$3200. Te Puke parts world say that the mechanical insurance repair centres buy all of these for repairs that's why they cost so much. There's plenty of holden v6's about for bugger all so this is a good option for me. I'm just not sure of the extras I'll run into. Does anyone know of vitaras with this conversion?

There are a couple around that do the club fun rallies etc , seem to go well .
Extra's you will need gearbox , t/case , front and rear diff's , new front springs :) .

Cheers

sorry , I forgot to mention that it has hilux running gear, which would be a neccesity, along with stronger gearbox and transfer case as Rotazuk has eluded to.

is your original motor stuffed or just want more grunt?. i am putting a v6 in to a vitara for a club /trials truck and you need to change the whole lot like every one is saying. i am using the v6 and 4spd auto with a seperate transfer and hilux diffs.

yeah probably a bit of both. I don't want to get a bigger wagon but I need the extra grunt at times. I think i've got a small crack in the block so I might use the G16b in my Lj81 project that I've just started. I'll probably need the model/year of diffs, transf case, etc for all bits n pieces to keep me on track. The more info I can get the better.
